We read books, blogs, magazines, and take special classes or attend seminars to learn about our special interests.

For people wanting to gain awareness of spiritual matters, they also read books, magazines, and Internet sites, they may attend church, go to schools of theology, and spend time in prayer, praise, or mediation to enlarge their understanding of faith.

These all seem to be reasonable efforts to achieve growth and understanding in the physical, mental, and spiritual realms. Now ask yourself how much time and energy you have put into your emotional growth and development?

Watching family and friends interact is one way and if these people had good emotional skills, then you may have learned how to deal with emotions very well.

For most of us, the emotional skills we learned in childhood do not carry well into adulthood and this is where many problems arise. So many times we think that relationship skills and the emotional side of our lives are just supposed to happen, as in a fairytale: And they lived happily ever after….

But when no one teaches us how to do that, broken homes and damaged relationships are a common result.
